Special Events: Συζήτηση πάνω στα Gender & Queer Politics και τη σχέση τους με τον Queer Κινηματογράφο

Στα πλαίσια του αφιερώματός του στο Φύλο, το φετινό Outview Film Festival διοργανώνει συζήτηση πάνω στα Gender & Queer Politics Politics και τη σχέση τους με τον Queer Κινηματογράφο, την Τετάρτη 13 Μαΐου και ώρα 17.30, στον εκθεσιακό χώρο της Ταινιοθήκης της Ελλάδας (Ιερά Οδός & Μεγάλου Αλεξάνδρου).
Επίσημη καλεσμένη μας και κεντρική ομιλήτρια θα είναι η Γαλλίδα queer θεωρητικός και ακτιβίστρια Marie-Hélène/Sam Bourcier.
H Marie-Hélène/Sam θα μας μιλήσει για τα σύγχρονα queer politics: Υπάρχει μια queer ατζέντα, και αν ναι, τι περιλαμβάνει; Πώς διαφέρει από τις L&G πολιτικές της αφομοίωσης, της ομοκανονικότητας και της ομοεθνικότητας, που εστιάζουν κατά κύριο λόγο στο γάμο και την ένταξη στο έθνος; Πώς τα queer politics και ο τρανσφεμινισμός μπορούν να συμβάλλουν στον κοινωνικό μετασχηματισμό και την οικονομική αναδιανομή; Και πώς αντιτίθενται στις νεοφιλελεύθερες βιο-πολιτικές;
Διακρίνουμε καταρχάς δύο τάσεις εντός των LGBT & Queer διεκδικήσεων: και αυτή ακριβώς η αντίθεση εκφράζεται ξεκάθαρα και στην παραγωγή του LGBT & Queer κινηματογράφου.
Για τη σύνδεση αυτή θα μας μιλήσει ο Sam Feder*, σκηνοθέτης του ντοκιμαντέρ «Kate Bornstein is a Queer and Pleasant Danger» -που θα προβάλουμε μετά το τέλος της συζήτησης- καθώς και ο Bard Yden**, Διευθυντής του Skeive Filmer Film Festival, του LGBT Φεστιβάλ Κινηματογράφου του Όσλο. Πώς διαμορφώνεται σήμερα το τοπίο στην παραγωγή LGBTQ ταινιών, ποια κομμάτια των διεκδικήσεών μας εκφράζονται και προωθούνται και γιατί άλλα παραμένουν μόνιμα σε δεύτερο πλάνο, λιγότερο εμφανή, παρότι αποτελούν τον πυρήνα της επαναστατικότητας της queer θεωρίας;
Το πάνελ των ομιλητών θα πλαισιώσει επίσης η Μαρίνα Γαλανού, Πρόεδρος του Σωματείου Υποστήριξης Διεμφυλικών, η Ερωφίλη Κόκκαλη, μέλος της ομάδας QueerTrans, καθώς και άτομα από τις ελληνικές (αθηναϊκές) LGBTQ ομάδες -σε μια απόπειρα να συνδέσουμε τα τελευταία δεδομένα γύρω από τα queer politics με την ελληνική πραγματικότητα.
Η συζήτηση θα γίνει σε ελληνικά και αγγλικά, με τη βοήθεια διερμηνείας από μέλος της Λεσβιακής Ομάδας Αθήνας.

Λίγα λόγια για τη Marie-Hélène/Sam Bourcier
H queer θεωρητικός και ακτιβίστρια Marie-Hélène/Sam Bourcier είναι αναπληρώτρια καθηγήτρια Πολιτισμικών, Φεμινιστικών και Queer Σπουδών στο Πανεπιστήμιο Lille III.
Το 1996 ίδρυσε την Le ZOO, την πρώτη queer ομάδα της Γαλλίας. Έχει μεταφράσει στα Γαλλικά κείμενα της Teresa de Lauretis και της Monique Wittig, και γράφει ασταμάτητα για τα media, τις πολιτικές του φύλου, τις σεξουαλικές πολιτικές, την πορνογραφία και το post-porn, και τις queer υποκουλτούρες. Επιμελήθηκε το Lesbian Film Festival στο Παρίσι, και διοργάνωσε το Paris Porn Film Festival. Είναι ο συγγραφέας της τριλογίας Queer Zones 1, Politique des identités sexuelles et des savoirs (2001), Queer Zones 2, Sexpolitiques (2005), Queer Zones 3, Identités, Cultures, Politics (2011).
Αυτήν την περίοδο ετοιμάζει το καινούριο της βιβλίο πάνω στο σεξ, το φιλελευθερισμό και τις διακρίσεις στα πανεπιστήμια.
Λίγα λόγια για τον Sam Feder
Ο Sam Feder είναι ένας πολυδιάστατος καλλιτέχνης, με έδρα το Μπρούκλιν της Νέας Υόρκης. Κεντρικός άξονας του έργου του είναι οι διαπροσωπικές δυναμικές εξουσίας και οι πολιτικές της ταυτότητας στα media. Το σκηνοθετικό ντεμπούτο του, η βραβευμένη ταινία «Boy I Am», θεωρείται από το Curve Magazine ένα από τα 10 καλύτερα ντοκιμαντέρ πάνω στο φύλο. Το «Kate Bornstein Is a Queer & Pleasant Danger» είναι η τρίτη του ταινία.
Ο Sam Feder έχει τιμηθεί με διάφορα βραβεία και υποτροφίες, μεταξύ άλλων από το Jerome Foundation, το Frameline, το Crossroads Foundation, το Funding Exchange, το Astraea Foundation for Social Justice, το Illinois Arts Council, το John D. & Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation. Έχει επίσης υποτροφία από το Ellen Stone Belic Institute for the Study of Women and Gender in the Arts and Media, και το 2013 του αποδόθηκε το Yaddo Artist Residency και το MacDowell Colony Fellow Residency. Τα τελευταία χρόνια περιοδεύει και συμμετέχει σε διεθνή κινηματογραφικά φεστιβάλ και σε συζητήσεις σε σχολεία, πανεπιστήμια, μουσεία και βιβλιοθήκες.

Within our tribute to Gender this year, Outview Film Festival 2015 is organizing a discussion on Queer and Gender & Queer Politics, on Wednesday the 13th of May 2015 at 17.30, at the Greek Film Archive (Iera Odos & M. Alexandrou st.)
Our official guest and main speaker will be the French queer theorist and activist Marie-Hélène/Sam Bourcier.
Marie-Hélène/Sam will talk about current Queer politics. What is a queer agenda; if there is any? How does it differ from L&G assimilationist, homonormative and homonationalist politics, that focus on marriage and inclusion in the nation? How queer politics and transfeminism which are willing to address social transformation and economical distribution address neoliberal biopolitics?
There are two distinct currents at this moment at work in the LGBT & Queer struggle: and these trends and their contrast are largely expressed through the current LGBT & Queer Cinema.
To speak about this connection of cinema and politics, we are more than happy to have as guest speakers: Sam Feder, director of the documentary on Kate Bornstein, «Kate Bornstein is a Queer and Pleasant Danger» -which we will be screening after the end of the event- and Bard Yden, Director of Skeive Filmer Film Festival, the
Oslo LGBT Film Festival. How is the current LGBTQ cinema formed, which parts are expressed and promoted, and why other queer expressions and demands always remain in the background, even though they seem to be at the very core of the queer theory’s revolutionary ideas?
Among the speakers will also be Marina Galanou, the Director of the Greek Transgender Association, Erofili Kokkali, member of the greek activist grassroot group QueerTrans and more people belonging to greek LGBTQ activist groups -in an attempt of ours to connect the latest developments around queer theory with the greek reality.
The discussion will be held in both English and Greek, with the help of a member of the Lesbian Group of Athens!

A few words on Marie-Hélène/Sam Bourcier
Queer activist and theorist, Marie-Hélène/Sam Bourcier is Associated Professor of Cultural Studies, Feminist Studies and Queer Studies at the University of Lille III.
She founded Le ZOO, the first queer group in France in 1996. He translated Teresa de Lauretis and Monique Wittig into French and writes extensively on medias, gender and sexual politics, pornography and post-pornography, queer subcultures and politics. Curator for the the Lesbian Film Festival in Paris, he ran the Paris Porn Film Festival. He is the author of the trilogy Queer Zones 1, Politique des identités sexuelles et des savoirs (2001), Queer Zones 2, Sexpolitiques (2005), Queer Zones 3, Identités, Cultures, Politics (2011).
He is currently working on a book sex and neoliberalism and discriminations at university.
A few words on Sam Feder
Sam Feder is a Brooklyn-based, multidisciplinary artist exploring interpersonal power dynamics and the politics of media-driven identity. Their directorial debut, the award winning feature, BOY I AM, is cited as one of the 10-must-see gender documentaries.
Feder’s work can be seen internationally at film festivals, universities and colleges, museums, and libraries. They have received national grants, fellowships, and residencies from the Jerome Foundation Grant, the RFA Excellence in Filmmaking Grant, Frameline Completion Fund, Crossroads Foundation, Funding Exchange, Astraea Foundation for Social Justice, and the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation. Feder was granted a 2013 Yaddo Artist Residency, and a 2013 MacDowell Colony Fellow Residency.
