So Quiet: The Performativity of a Pussy

Maria Katsikadakou

Overview

Has a pussy it’s very own performance? Maria Katsikadakou (aka Maria Cyber) outlines the performativity of the pussy, in an eight minute video art. By claiming a part of the visibility pie, in contrast to the plurality of the information and images of dicks, the pussy is here, in close ups, raw and naked, in a big screen covered all by it. The title, as well as the images the director uses, shows us the actions of the pussy.

In contrast to the performance of the dick, which is obvious at any point of its situation, the pussy seems to be more… quiet at first glance, while at the same time builds a whole empire of enjoyment, intensity and ready for battle on the inside, until the very moment of the female orgasm. The music is created by the fabulous Nalyssa Green, who is inspired of this video art. A magical full moon is visible from a car view while is moving and it’s mentally connected with the moment of the female orgasm. The full moon seems always smaller by the human eye than it is in reality, and it’s for sure connected with the picture of a clitoris, which shows us only a very small part of its real dimension during stimulation time. The performativity of the pussy, as the artist reminds us, while seems to be “soft” or “quiet” in its ways of action, it’s always complicated, hard and ready for claiming its orgasm.
