In 2001 The Netherlands was the first country in the world to legalize same-sex marriage. But in the Caribbean part of The Kingdom of The Netherlands homosexuality is still seen as an abnormality, a disease and a sin. In 'One Kingdom, One Love' a group of gay rights activists from the Dutch Caribbean islands visits the Amsterdam Gay Pride 2015 to raise awareness of their situation at home. The documentary reveals the social nonacceptance of gays, lesbians and transgenders in the Caribbean part of the Kingdom and shows their battle for equal rights. Outspoken personal stories give a glimpse into a subculture which is normally kept quiet about.
